Welcome to Strive for Strength, the blog dedicated to all things powerlifting and strength training.


Designed as part of my MSc Marketing degree, to educate and inspire the public and especially women to start powerlifting and strength training. In today’s society women are expected to be small and weak as that is considered beautiful. This pressure to look a certain way has meant most women fear strength and weight training. This blog aims to change that.


What is Powerlifting?

Powerlifting consists of three lifts, the squat, bench press and deadlift, designed to test an athlete’s maximum strength. There are two forms of powerlifting that one may partake in: raw, otherwise known as classic, and equipped. The equipped version of powerlifting involves the lifter wearing supportive clothing which allows them to lift heavier weights.


Powerlifting is an extremely rewarding sport that brings many benefits besides strength. Through this blog, you will gain an understanding of powerlifting and weight training that will leave you equipped with everything you need to know to get started and build a better you.
